Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine arrested in Dominican Republic over domestic violence

Published:

Authorities in the Dominican Republic have arrested American rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, who is set to appear in court on Thursday on allegations of domestic abuse.

The rapper, real name Daniel Hernández, is being kept in a jail in the Dominican capital of Santo Domingo after being arrested on Wednesday, according to officials.

No other information was immediately available, and it was unclear whether 6ix9ine has a counsel.

On Thursday, a judge will decide whether the rapper will be held in jail or released on bond while the investigation continues.

6ix9ine’s arrest marks his latest run-in with the law.

In October, he was arrested at a seaside hotel in the Dominican Republic for allegedly attacking a local music producer. Hernández and his companion, Dominican rapper Yailín la Más Viral, had been recording at the producer’s studio.

6ix9ine had previously been accused in the United States of utilizing a violent gang as a “personal hit squad,” but he escaped prison by testifying against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, which operates on the East Coast.

In March 2023, he was assaulted by multiple people in a gym in Florida.

In 2018, Tekashi 6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj collaborated on the multiplatinum smash song “Fefe.” It peaked at number three on the pop charts.
