NYSC secures release of another PCM abducted in Zamfara

Published:

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), in collaboration with the military, has successfully secured the release of another female Prospective Corps Member (PCM) and the bus driver who were kidnapped in Zamfara State last year.

This development was disclosed in a press statement by the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Mega, on Monday.

Recall that eight prospective corps members from Akwa Ibom state were abducted as they journeyed to the NYSC Orientation Camp in Sokoto State last year.

With this latest release, the total number of freed Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) has increased to five.

However, the situation remains tense as three others—one female and two males—are still being held captive.

The NYSC management have reassured families and the public that efforts are intensifying to ensure their safe return.

Brigadier General YD Ahmed, the Director-General of the NYSC, expressed his gratitude towards the security agents for their relentless pursuit which led to the successful release of the PCMs.

“The NYSC remains committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of all Corps Members,” he stated, emphasizing the scheme’s dedication to its responsibility.

He further highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the NYSC and security agencies in addressing the challenges faced by Corps Members across the country, particularly those serving in vulnerable regions.
